Motherjane’s music can be best classified as Ethnic rock, fusing modern progressive sounds with influences from the vast soundscapes of India. Motherjane recently celebrated 21 years of making music and their last single ‘Clay Play’ received a great response from the music fraternity in both India and abroad. Motherjane now has four core members – John Thomas (Drums and Percussion), Clyde Rozario (Bass guitar), Nithin Vijayanath (Lead/ Rhythm guitar) and Vivek Thomas (Vocals), along with two touring musicians Sushin Shyam (Keyboard/ Synth) and Varun Raj (Guitar).
The band is now working on its upcoming record, which will be released soon. Their album, Insane Biography, released in 2002, is regarded as one of the most influential records in Indian rock till date. Their second album Maktub released in 2008 clearly caught the attention of the music industry and gave a clear niche to the band. Motherjane has done an OST for the movie ANWAR by Amal Neerad. The band has toured extensively both within and beyond the country, the main international tours being in countries Indonesia, Ukraine, Sri Lanka and UAE.
